“Investment in travel is an investment in yourself.”
-Matthew Karsten
Being smart travelers, we will opt for the best available flight deals. We want the cheapest flights so we can save some of our funds and allocate them somewhere such as travel insurance, hotel accommodations, extra pocket money while we are away with our adventure, or set it aside for investment or your emergency fund.
I assure you that you can find affordable flights to anywhere you want to be. My principle is, to make things very simple and avoid complexities.
Here are the simple steps on how to find affordable flights to your dream destinations. Are you excited? I am too.
1. Plan Your Travel in Advance
We have to understand that travelers’ preferences differ. Some people may prefer to plan their vacations months ahead of time, ensuring that every detail is perfect so every plan is in place. However, some travelers enjoy the thrill of impromptu adventure planning. Well, we cannot question them right? Because that’s how they operate when it comes to planning their trips.
Based on our experience, we always get good Flights’ Best deals if we’re booking in advance compared to last-minute one.
Planning your vacation is, in my opinion, the greatest and most wise course of action because it forces you to think about your lodging, transportation, and other crucial aspects of your trip, such as acquiring travel insurance. Above all, make sure you evaluate your finances before you press the green signal button.
2. Utilize Online Travel Search Tools
o make a sound decision as to which price point is the cheapest, we need to use online travel search tools or comparison sites. This will give us a bird’s-eye view if not all, the majority of the available travel prices from different airlines.
Skyscanner
Skyscanner is our go-to travel planning tool every time Rhea and I decide to take a trip. It is a leading travel company worldwide and a flight search engine. You can see all of your flight options at once on the platform. Skyscanner is committed to making travel as easy as possible.
You may also opt to “get price alerts”. To set up an alert, search for your destination and specific dates, then click the “bell sign” and proceed to share your email address and verify your email by providing the 4-digit verification code. That’s it and you’re done!
Of course, you are always in control by customizing your preferences by creating multiple price alerts for all your favorite and dream destinations.
What if you decided not to receive price alerts anymore? Not a problem! Just log in to your account and head to the price alerts button to remove the price alerts that you have initially set up.
Even though Skyscanner is our first option, we cannot control ourselves but check other online travel search tools as follows to ensure that we’re getting the best deals ever:
Booking.com
As one of the world’s largest travel marketplaces, seamlessly connects millions of travelers with memorable experiences, a range of transport options, and incredible places to stay – from homes to hotels and much more.
Trip.com
Another good price reference for planning your trip. You may check “Trip.com Rewards” should you decide to become a member which gives you up to 20% discounts on hotel stays and other benefits such as Trip Coins which can be used to pay for your bookings.
How to find cheap flights on google?
The newly discovered option on how to find cheap flights is by using this platform to find and book tickets whenever and wherever you want to and get the best prices.
This amazing platform by Google will allow you to navigate it’s powerful features that will give you airfare intelligence from different airlines.
One of which is the Date Grid wherein you will be given price options for different travel dates. When I was writing this blog, I was checking the platform for a four-day round-trip from Heathrow Airport to Bali Indonesia.
As you can see, Google Flights gave me options of the “Best Departing Flights” with the cheapest airfare at $1,173. You can also check the “Other Departing Flights” for a more competitive airfare of $967 and $1145.
But wait! There’s more! Try to use the other feature of the platform by using the “Date Grid” using the same travel dates that I was checking, the data shows that if I change my travel dates from the 1st of March to the 4th of March, it gives me the cheapest price of $873.
That’s a few dollars that will be saved by utilizing the available platforms online.
This is simply telling us that we should be flexible on our travel dates to take advantage of the different offers available in the marketplaces. As I have said in my first tip, we need to plan our travel in advance at all times.
Lastly, click the “Price Graph” to check the price fluctuations and of course, it will allow you to plan accordingly.
